A proper break — away from the everyday, with 24/7 support, for the participant and for the people who care for them.
The NDIS funds short breaks away from your usual routine. We organise the trip, the support and everything in between, so that a holiday is actually a holiday rather than a logistics exercise.
Who this might suit
- People who would like a short break away with support, and the chance to try something new
- Families and carers who need a planned, reliable break
- People building confidence being away from home overnight
- People who want a supported holiday rather than a placement
We support people across Hornsby and Sydney’s north. If you’re not sure whether this is the right support, ask us — it’s a five-minute conversation, not a commitment.
What is included
- Accommodation — our Amaroo Homestead coastal retreat, or hotels, resorts and apartments
- All meals — freshly cooked, or out somewhere worth going
- All transport — from your accommodation to every activity, and home again at the end
- All free activities
- 24/7 support from experienced Morhaven support workers

Where we go
Here, there and everywhere. You can join a group trip to our coastal retreat, or we can put something together around what you actually want to do.
If you would rather not travel with a group, you can request a private holiday — just you and your support worker. Tell us what you have in mind and we will talk through what is possible and how it works with your plan.
A break for carers too
Short Term Accommodation means the participant gets a holiday and the family or carer gets time to unwind. Both of those matter, and there is nothing to feel awkward about in needing the second one.
Stays are built to feel like a home away from home — safe, warm, and busy enough that people come back having done something, met someone, or learned something they did not expect.
Limited spaces are available. Call 1800 168 468 or send an enquiry to check what is coming up.
How funding works
Short Term Accommodation (STA) is a recognised NDIS support and is usually funded through the Core Supports part of a plan. It covers a short stay away from home with support included. Depending on your goals, a stay can also draw on the Capacity Building budget — improved daily living skills, improved relationships and increased social and community participation.
What a stay costs depends on your plan, how long you stay and what the group does while you’re away. Accommodation, all meals, all transport to and from activities, the activities themselves and 24/7 support from our support workers are included in the stay, so there are no out-of-pocket costs on top of it. Talk to us before you book and we’ll go through it with you properly.
Your plan can be NDIA managed, plan managed, or self managed — or a combination. Many people choose to be self- or plan-managed because it gives the most flexibility over which providers they use. If you’d like help choosing a plan manager, we can point you in the right direction.

Common questions
What services does Morhaven provide?
Four things: Support Workers for one-to-one support at home and in the community; Social & Living Skills Programs covering cooking, budgeting, travel training and more; Weekend & Friday Night Socials; and Respite, Supported Holiday Stays & STA.
What age groups do you support?
Children, teenagers and adults. Our Weekend & Friday Night Socials are designed for young adults aged 16–35; support workers, living skills programs and respite are available across age groups.
What areas do you cover?
Our centre is at Suite 508/88-90 George Street, Hornsby, and we support people across Sydney’s north — including Wahroonga, Asquith, Berowra and Pennant Hills. Supported holidays and short-term accommodation also run further afield, including Amaroo Homestead at Pindimar.
Nearby but not on that list? Give us a call — we’ll tell you honestly whether we can help.
Do you accept NDIA-managed, plan-managed and self-managed participants?
There are three ways an NDIS plan can be managed — by the NDIA, by a plan manager, or by you or your nominee — and many people use a combination.
Tell us how your plan is managed when you get in touch and we’ll confirm straight away how we can work with you. If you’d like help choosing a plan manager, we can point you in the right direction.
Do you currently have availability?
Currently accepting enquiries for selected services. Contact our team to check availability.
Availability moves week to week and differs by service, so the quickest answer is a direct one: call 1800 168 468, or send a quick referral and we’ll come back to you on capacity.
Can I meet a support worker before services begin?
We match members with staff who share their interests and values, not simply whoever is available — so getting the right person matters to us as much as it does to you. Ask us about meeting them first when we talk through your supports.
If a match isn’t working once supports have started, tell us and we’ll change it.
How does a support coordinator make a referral?
Use the referral forms. The quick referral takes about two minutes and is enough to check availability; the detailed referral captures the full picture when you’re ready to proceed. You can also call 1800 168 468 and we’ll take the referral over the phone.
Am I eligible for the NDIS?
Eligibility is decided by the NDIA, not by Morhaven or any other provider. Broadly, it applies to people aged 7 to 65 who live in Australia, are an Australian resident, and usually need support from another person — or use special equipment — because of a permanent and significant disability. Children aged 0–6 are supported through Early Childhood Early Intervention instead.
To start, make an Access Request with the NDIS on 1800 800 110 or read the official criteria at ndis.gov.au. Happy to talk it through with you first — just ask.
