A support worker is someone who works alongside you — at home, out in the community, or wherever you need a hand. Not a carer who does things to you, but someone who helps you do the things you want to do.
Who this might suit
- People who want to live more independently at home
- People who’d like to get out more but need support to do it
- Families who need reliable, consistent support they can plan around
- People building specific skills — cooking, travel, budgeting, appointments
We support people across Hornsby and Sydney’s north. If you’re not sure whether this is the right support, ask us — it’s a five-minute conversation, not a commitment.
What support can look like
Every arrangement is different. Some examples of what our support workers do:
- Shopping and meal preparation
- Life skills training
- Travel training
- Home duties and household tasks
- Buddy for social events
- Exercise and fitness
- Catching up with friends
- Trying new things
We also provide help with personal care activities, and our support workers act as buddies at social events — offering both emotional and practical support so members can build meaningful, lasting friendships.

How funding works
Support workers are usually funded through the Core Supports part of an NDIS plan. Exactly how depends on your plan and your goals — we’ll go through it with you, and we’d rather explain it properly than have you guess.
Your plan can be NDIA managed, plan managed, or self managed — or a combination. Many people choose to be self- or plan-managed because it gives the most flexibility over which providers they use. If you’d like help choosing a plan manager, we can point you in the right direction.

Getting started
- Tell us what you need. Call 1800 168 468 or send a short enquiry.
- We’ll talk it through. What support, when, and how it fits your plan.
- We’ll match you with a worker. We think about personality and interests, not just availability.
- Start, and adjust. If the match isn’t right, tell us and we’ll change it.

Common questions
What can a support worker help with?
Shopping and meal preparation, life skills, travel training, household tasks, exercise, catching up with friends, and being a buddy at social events. Personal care is included where it is part of what you need.
Who will my support worker be?
Someone matched to you on interests and values, not simply whoever is free. That matching is the part we take most seriously — it is the difference between support that works and support that is merely delivered.
Can I meet them before we start?
Ask us when we talk through your supports. Tell us what would make you comfortable and we will work out what is possible.
What if the match is not working?
Tell us and we will change it. You do not need a reason, and you will not be asked to justify it.
How many hours can I have?
That depends on your NDIS plan rather than on us. Tell us what your plan includes and we will tell you plainly what we can do within it.
Which areas do you cover?
Our centre is at Suite 508/88-90 George Street, Hornsby, and we support people across Sydney’s north — including Wahroonga, Asquith, Berowra and Pennant Hills.
How is it funded?
Usually through the Core Supports part of an NDIS plan. We work with NDIA-managed, plan-managed and self-managed participants — tell us which yours is and we will confirm how it works for you.
Do I have to commit to anything to ask?
No. An enquiry is a conversation. We will only ask for the information needed to understand how we may be able to help.
