A social group for young adults aged 16–35 — built around what members want to do, with support workers there to help it happen.
Getting out with people your own age should not be complicated. Our socials are a standing invitation: a group that meets every week, activities chosen by the members themselves, and staff whose job is to make the night work rather than to run it.
Who this might suit
- Young people aged 16 to 35 who want a regular social life outside school or work
- People who would like to try new activities with support close by
- People who have left school and miss seeing friends each week
- Families who want their family member to have a weekend that is their own
We support people across Hornsby and Sydney’s north. If you’re not sure whether this is the right fit, ask us — it’s a five-minute conversation, not a commitment.
When we meet
- Friday socials — every Friday, 5:00pm to 9:00pm
- Saturday socials — times vary with the activity
- Sunday socials — times vary with the activity
The calendar lists what is coming up, so you can pick the ones you like the look of. There is no requirement to come to everything.
What we do
Activities and venues are age-appropriate and based on the ideas of our members, such as:
- Movies
- Karaoke
- Bowling
- Going out for dinner
- Concerts
- Dancing
- Seasonal events, festivals and shows
- Christmas and Easter events
- Themed nights at the centre
- Barbecues and picnics

Stronger social connections
The program is built around capacity building — the skills that make someone feel capable and included — in a setting that is safe, supportive and age-appropriate. We want members to succeed at things. We also want them to have a good time and make friends, which is the part that keeps people coming back.
We deliberately mix mainstream venues with disability-focused ones, because inclusion that only ever happens in one room is not really inclusion.
How funding works
Friday and weekend activities are usually funded through the Core Supports part of an NDIS plan — the part that covers social and community participation. Where the goal is building a particular skill, sessions can also draw on the Capacity Building budget — increased social and community participation, improved relationships and improved daily living skills.
Some activities have an entry fee, ticket price or meal cost of their own. Those are paid by the member on the day, and the amount is printed on the program calendar in advance — a day trip might say “allow $38 for entry”, a bowling night “allow $10 for the game”. Ask us before a session and we’ll tell you exactly what it involves.
Your plan can be NDIA managed, plan managed, or self managed — or a combination. Many people choose to be self- or plan-managed because it gives the most flexibility over which providers they use. If you’d like help choosing a plan manager, we can point you in the right direction.

Common questions
What services does Morhaven provide?
Four things: Support Workers for one-to-one support at home and in the community; Social & Living Skills Programs covering cooking, budgeting, travel training and more; Weekend & Friday Night Socials; and Respite, Supported Holiday Stays & STA.
What age groups do you support?
Children, teenagers and adults. Our Weekend & Friday Night Socials are designed for young adults aged 16–35; support workers, living skills programs and respite are available across age groups.
What areas do you cover?
Our centre is at Suite 508/88-90 George Street, Hornsby, and we support people across Sydney’s north — including Wahroonga, Asquith, Berowra and Pennant Hills. Supported holidays and short-term accommodation also run further afield, including Amaroo Homestead at Pindimar.
Nearby but not on that list? Give us a call — we’ll tell you honestly whether we can help.
Do you accept NDIA-managed, plan-managed and self-managed participants?
There are three ways an NDIS plan can be managed — by the NDIA, by a plan manager, or by you or your nominee — and many people use a combination.
Tell us how your plan is managed when you get in touch and we’ll confirm straight away how we can work with you. If you’d like help choosing a plan manager, we can point you in the right direction.
Do you currently have availability?
Currently accepting enquiries for selected services. Contact our team to check availability.
Availability moves week to week and differs by service, so the quickest answer is a direct one: call 1800 168 468, or send a quick referral and we’ll come back to you on capacity.
Can I meet a support worker before services begin?
We match members with staff who share their interests and values, not simply whoever is available — so getting the right person matters to us as much as it does to you. Ask us about meeting them first when we talk through your supports.
If a match isn’t working once supports have started, tell us and we’ll change it.
How does a support coordinator make a referral?
Use the referral forms. The quick referral takes about two minutes and is enough to check availability; the detailed referral captures the full picture when you’re ready to proceed. You can also call 1800 168 468 and we’ll take the referral over the phone.
Am I eligible for the NDIS?
Eligibility is decided by the NDIA, not by Morhaven or any other provider. Broadly, it applies to people aged 7 to 65 who live in Australia, are an Australian resident, and usually need support from another person — or use special equipment — because of a permanent and significant disability. Children aged 0–6 are supported through Early Childhood Early Intervention instead.
To start, make an Access Request with the NDIS on 1800 800 110 or read the official criteria at ndis.gov.au. Happy to talk it through with you first — just ask.
